The chess Legend Viswanathan
Anand proved all his critics wrong and won the tournament called Candidates
chess. The five time world champion held Sergey Karjakin of Russia to a draw in
91 moves in 13th round and won the tournament with a spare round on
Saturday. The end game lasted more than five and half hours. One should not
judge the achievement of Anand’s in chess. This was one of the very few things
the Indian Chess legend had left in chess and qualified for carlsen rematch for
World Championship.
Anand was greatly benefited
by the shocking loss of Levon Aronian of Armenia to Dmitry Andreikin of Russia.
This was actually the biggest upset of the tournament. Vladimir Kramnik took
his revenge on the day by defeating Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria and Shakhriyar
Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan made a draw with Peter Svidler of Russia, This helped
Anand to win the tournament.
The Indian chess master got
8 points and Karjakin, Kramnik,
Mamedyarov, Andreikin and Aronian got 6.5 points each. Peter Svidler stood on
seventh spot with six points while Topalov reamined got 5.5 points to fill the
last spot. Anand equalized easily against Karjakin as he had no trouble in
finding a thematic pawn sacrifice which made his positing strong to play.
Andreikin shown a great
performance by beating Aronian, the Russian Andreikin surprised Aronian with
the Trompovsky opening and this gave him a great start and a comfortable
endgame.
The Tournament Victory gave Anand a good amount of cheque of 135000
Euros a little over 1 crore rupees. This also gave a chance to reclaim the
thorn of world champion against Magnus Carlsen of Norway the Present World
Champion and this remarkable match will take place in the last quarter of this
year.
