One of the leading tech companies Microsoft has finally suspended windows phone 7.8 Upgrade on a
temporary manner. Microsoft basically provides these updates to the windows phones of Nokia, who finally
admits that the techno giant has decided to stop the distribution of Windows
phone 7.8 Upgrade to Nokia Lumia devices,
which includes the Nokia Lumia 800.
On twitter when a random user asked about the status of the Windows
Phone 7.8 Upgrade on the Nokia Lumia 800, the official twitter account of Nokia
Russia admitted the news of temporary suspension on the upgradation process.
Last week Mr. Joe Belfiore, who is the manager of the Windows Phone Programme, had already
confirmed on the social networking site Twitter that the Microsoft had been
able to identify a minor issue, and it is working hard to fix it as soon as
possible. He had a quick questions-answers season with the users where he also
assured that Microsoft is working to fix the Live Tiles Problem too.
A few days back Vodafone Germany had said on a press release that it was
faltering the Windows Phone 7.8 Upgrades.
However it didn’t mention the actual reason for it, so it is still unknown
whether it’s because of the problems with the upgrades or not. The users are
having a few serious problems with this new updates, and the problem had also
been discussed in various tech forums including Microsoft’s own. Even the
employees of the Microsoft have acknowledged the issue.
On 31st January, 2013 the much-awaited Windows Phone 7.8 Upgrade was launched for Nokia Lumia devices, and after that the active users started
downloading it on their own devices. But soon enough the users had suffered
with an issue, where live tiles for some or all of their applications stopped
being dynamic. That’s not all the live tiles had been causing innumerable
number of update requests to the server, which were leading to the overall
battery drain of devices.
Microsoft built the Windows Phone 8 on a different platform than its
older ones. It decided to launch Windows Phone 7.8 for the existing Windows
Phone 7.5 users so that they could be able to enjoy some of the features of
Windows 8 on their own phones by upgrading it to the new one. It has to be mentioned
here that the Windows Phone 8 is not
compatible with the older windows phone
devices.
The new update eventually added a few cool features of Windows 8 including a brand new unique
start screen option with fully re-sizable live tiles. The update also included
the almighty branding of Windows Phone 8
to the Nokia Lumia devices on the splash icons and screens for Office, Games
and Windows Phone Stores.
Some of the cool features of the updates are it has an option to
showcase the Bing Picture of the Day automatically. It also has the new lock
screen features, which is really trending now in the gadget and smart phone world. It also doubles the total number of
themes and colors to twenty. And the best one is it includes the 'A1B2C3'
password challenge mechanism, which is a gem of a feature to prevent the
accidental device hacks on the windows phones that are connected to Exchange
accounts.
The Live Tiles issue has become a major issue day by day, and that’s why
finally Microsoft has decided to suspend the Windows Phone 7.8 Upgrade
temporarily to fix it up properly. It’s not clear yet when the next update will be unveiled by the Microsoft. One thing is crystal clear
that the techno giant Microsoft will release its new 7.8 updates
after fixing up all the issues including the Live Tiles problem.
It has to be mentioned here that the Microsoft has not revealed when the
non-Nokia devices will start receiving the Windows Phone 7.8 Upgrade. So we
will just have to wait and watch on this matter.
