This Sunday McLaren’s Jenson Button claimed the Belgian Grand Prix title
from pole position. This was a big victory to him and to the team McLaren too.
He eventually had a untroubled evening and at the end he managed to win the
race quite comfortably.
Button ended the
race with 13.6 seconds clear of Red Bull’s double world champion Sebastian
Vettel, who won this same grand prix from pole position in the last year.
Finland’s Kimi Raikkonen came third in the race for Lotus, and Force India’s
Nico Hulkenberg came fourth, which was the best result of his team for the
ongoing season. Hulkenberg was ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Mark Webber.
This year’s
favorite Fernando Alonso had a tough day, he had hoped for a record equalizing
24th successive points finish but his hope was shattered in a cloud
of carbon-fiber after a few metres. Eventually the Spaniard Alonso might
consider himself quite lucky as he could have been hit by the flying Lotus of
Romain Grosjean, whose car took off after colliding with Hamilton.
Michael
Schumacher, the seven times world champion, snatched the seventh place for his
team Mercedes after running as high as second at the circuit where he eventually
started his glorious F1 career in the year of 1991 and also took his first win
in 1992. This Belgian Grand Prix was his 300th Grand Prix.
