Cabinet Green-signaled National Skill Development Agency (NSDA)

The Union Cabinet gave its green signal for constituting a fully autonomous body, National Skill Development Agency (NSDA).
NSDA Approval

The Union Cabinet gave its green signal for constituting a fully autonomous body, which will be called as National Skill Development Agency (NSDA). Eventually this new body will subsume the National Skill Development Coordination Board (NSDCB), the Prime Minister’s National Council on Skill Development (PMNCSD), the National Skill Development Coordination Board (NSDCB), and the Office of the Adviser to the PM on Skill Development.

This approval from the Union Cabinet of India came on 9th May, 2013, and the NSDA will be located in the Ministry of Finance itself. Now the question is what will be the workings of this newly formed body, right?? Well, it will harmonize and coordinate the efforts for the skill development of the Government of India. It will also work as a boost up organization for the private sector firms by providing supports to reach the desired skilling targets of the 12th plan, or beyond itself.

There will be a few other workarounds too for the National Skill Development Agency, as it will certainly be the nodal agency for Sector Skills Councils so that it would able to help it to contribute more towards the progress of the country. NSDA will also be responsible for bridging the all important divide lines in terms of gender, regional, social and economy in area of skilling. The autonomous body will also take its control over the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF). This will provide an economic stability to India.

NSDC, along with the support of the various Central Ministries, will do is continuous work towards the implementation of schemes in their remits. It will also be empowered to raise some extra resources for the budgetary purposes. India is also improving bi-lateral relations with a few countries. In fact India-US bilateral trade likely to touch $500 bn in next 10 years.

I want to highlight a fact here that is according to the BCG Reports India is likely to emerge as 5th largest manufacturing nations. The government is taking good plan of actions to sustain it by setting up bodies like NSDC and all.

It has to be mentioned here that the proposal to build the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) was first endorsed by the Union Cabinet in its meeting, which was held on 31st January 2013. After that meeting a certain Group of Ministers (GoM) reviewed the all aspects of it, as it was referred to them by the Cabinet itself. The cabinet is taking these measures as they don’t want to miss the revenue growth target.

It is quite likely indeed that the NSDC will provide the much awaited (needed too) single point focus, which will ensure that the skilling quality and standards meet specific requirements that are benchmarked to international standards with respect to the various sectors.

The good part of this set up is, it will boost employability of the Youth in all over the India. This is such an initiative which the country needs this time badly. I am hoping that this time every time will so smoothly enough, and the wheels of development keep rolling in the years to come.
