Yesterday Samsung India announced that very soon it will start manufacturing its newly-launched high end smartphone device Galaxy S4 in India. Currently Samsung is the leading smartphone making company in the Indian market in matter of overall profits.

Mr. Vineet Taneja, who is the active Country Head of Samsung Mobile and Digital Imaging, was talking to the reporters in a recent press meet."We are planning to start manufacturing of S4 soon at our Noida facility," he said at the meet.

However Mr. Taneja declined to share any estimated time frame by when the production of the device will likely to start. It has to be added here that currently the Noida facility is manufacturing around 35-40 million devices per year, including various high end smartphones like Galaxy S3.

Samsung launched its Galaxy S4 in India on 26th April of this year, and currently the company is importing these S4 devices from South Korea.

Galaxy S4 has able to create a serious buzz in the smartphone market, and it is already in high demand. Sensing this huge demand for Galaxy S4, which eventually has been rising day by day, the Korean company is now all set to increase the high-end smartphone market size in countries like India. As a matter of fact this market (high end smartphone) is currently contributing around 10-12 per cent of the overall smartphone market, so it definitely can’t be ignored for sure.

The new Galaxy S4 has some amazing features like 'gesture-control' technology. It also has 2 mega pixel front and 13 mega pixel rear camera, a five-inch full HD super AMOLED touchscreen, and many other superb facilities. It also supports 3G and Wi-Fi networks.

Samsung is very much keen on maintaining its lead in the Indian smartphone market over the rival companies like Apple, BlackBerry and Nokia, which are continuously putting pressure on it. As a result of that the current market leader Samsung has decided to add a few new software features in its new devices.

According to IDC, which is a well-known research firm, the overall mobile phone market in India is growing at 16 per cent year-on-year, and it basically reached around 218 million units in 2012, that is quite huge indeed.

It has to be mentioned here that of this about 16.3 million units were smartphones only, and surprisingly the smartphone category had seen a growth of about huge 48 per cent. IDC added that Samsung was the proud leader in the 5-inch plus screen size and quad core devices.

Now days owning a smartphone have become relatively easier than before with the introduction of some easy EMI and cash back schemes, which were launched by the leading smartphone making companies. In fact the demand for smartphones is very much likely to be around 34-36 million devices by the end of this year only.

In 2012 Samsung had sold 215.8 million units of smartphones, and thus it had 30.3 per cent share of the global smartphone market. Apple, which is the second best in this category, had a market share of 19.1 per cent with sales of 135.9 million units, IDC concluded.
