Foundation stone of Kochi Metro Railway Project laid




                 After a long wait, finally Kochi Metro Railway Project started its voyage. Recently the honorable Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh himself laid the foundation stone for the Kochi Metro Railway Project. The expected cost of this project is Rs 5,180 crore and it is to be completed in three years only. Mr. E. Sreedharan, who is a former administrative member of Delhi Metro, is the main key man behind this project. He is the live wire indeed.

                         Now with the help this project Kochi joins the league of Metro cities. It has become the eighth Indian city with a Metro network. The project will cover an area of 25 km from Alwaye to Petta.

                         The central government is helping the project by allotting Rs 1,000 crore in the total project cost, while the rest of the money will be arranged by the state government. The local state government has decided to avail it in the way of loans from various funding agencies.

                         The Central Government is planning to launch Metro Network in all the 19 cities which have a population of more than 20 lakh people. So the Government has already decided to help and support the preparation of detailed project reports for Metro Rail in these nineteen cities. It has to be mentioned here that detailed project reports for 12 cities are already ready.

                         So India will have more and more metro cities in near future. It is very essential for growth and modernism. It will bring the speed, comfort and many other things in the life of daily passengers. It will also improve the image of India to the rest of the globe.
