Rs 12K Crore package to IAF for 56 aircrafts by Indian Defence Ministry

Indian Air Force is becoming stronger and stronger day by day, and Indian Defence Ministry remains helpful to them. Recently the Defence Ministry approved a proposal, which is worth over Rs 12,000 crore, to procure 56 transport aircraft for the Air Force purpose. These new aircrafts will replace its fleet of vintage Avro planes. The Defence Ministry has understood the scenario, and then decided that it’s time to move on, time to stay updated, which is very good news.

In an important meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), which is eventually headed by the Defence Minister A.K. Antony himself, the IAF proposal to issue a global tender for procuring these latest aircrafts was approved anonymously.

It has to be mentioned here that the procuring will start very soon. In fact the first 16 aircraft will be procured off-the-shelf from foreign vendors who will have to ally with a local private or public sector firm. So this will also help the economy sector a bit by the flowing of global money.

The next 16 aircraft will have to have 30 percent indigenous component while the remaining 24 planes will have 60 percent locally-procured and produced products.
