On this Thursday the global smartphone maker BlackBerry announced that it had sold around 1 million BlackBerry Z10 devices during the fourth quarter that was ended on March 2. It also declared an unexpected profit on demand for its new touch screen device named as Z10.

The new device BlackBerry Z10 eventually holds the key to its successful comeback in the global smartphone market. Despite of this surprised profit on demand the net revenue remained far below year-earlier levels.

In the Q4 period apparently BlackBerry had shipped 6 million smartphones worldwide. Just few days’ back BlackBerry launched Z10 in US market to take another step to regain its lost glory in the worldwide growing smartphone market.

The total net income of the company in the quarter for this year was $98 million, while it was $125 million is the previous year. The value of the company in the stock market also suffered a loss, as for this year it was only 19 cents per share compared to 24 cents per year in the earlier year.

It has to be mentioned here that share value of the Ontario-based Waterloo also fell 1.1 percent in the trading of pre-market. After the results were disclosed its share value was closed at $14.40, which was quite poor result for the company indeed.

BlackBerry announced that in the first quarter it would take some serious measures to boost up the profit. It would look forward to prepare a break-even economic results, which will be completely based on a lower cost base, more efficient supply chain, and last but surely not the least its highly improved hardware margins.
The road of BlackBerry will not be easy in the Q1, as many trade analysts had already been expecting a loss of further 10 cents per share in that period of time. According to Thomson Reuters a large portion of trade analysts are seeing further decline for the smartphone makers in the coming time.
There was a time when BlackBerry used to dominate the worldwide smartphone market, but in the past few years it lost its coveted position to the Apple Inc. and Samsung. The company has already taken some measures to reclaim its lost glory. It had named itself to BlackBerry to give it more brand value.
On February 25 BlackBerry 10 hit the Indian Market, and it had done some fine businesses there according to some analysts. Overall the quarterly revenue of the company fell to $2.68 billion from $4.2 billion of the previous year.
